Before writing grant proposals, pitching to funders, or running fundraising campaigns, it’s important to be able to clearly articulate your organization's mission, budget, objectives, and impact. With these pieces in place, you can confidently seek out funding from individual donors, grants, and more.  This session will introduce the basics of fundraising, with an emphasis on practical tools, tactics, and strategies to build capacity and sustainability.

Topics include, but not limited to:

  • Strategies on making an ask – who to ask, when to ask, how to ask.

  • Stewardship – the science and art of thanking.

  • Storytelling

  • Donor Communications

  • Grants; and more!

Have you always wanted to write a grant but were not sure where in the world to start? Discover and learn the basic principles and practices of good grant writing and the importance of researching funders to find the right fit for your nonprofit, as well as strategies for approaching funders.

In this half-day session we will cover:

  • Overview of the grant seeking process

  • Persuasive proposal writing

  • Walk-thru the entire grant writing process

 

We’ll also discuss elements of a proposal, including the need statement, program design, evaluation, and the budget.

Program evaluation is a major focus for nonprofits and donors. Donors and funders are increasingly calling for evidence that their resources are being used effectively and efficiently. Program evaluation helps organizations determine the impact of their services and whether their programs are producing the intended results. This course examines the rationale for program evaluation and the methods by which programs are evaluated. The course also explores techniques of effective evaluation and analysis.

In this half-day session we will cover:

  • Define program evaluation and impact

  • Develop a logic model

  • Identify challenges associated with program evaluation

  • Policies around ethics

  • Guidelines and tips for reporting 

Cost: $100 per person and includes all material and handouts and time at the end to work 1:1 with the instructor to discuss your evaluation methods.
